Situation
Hewlett Packard, a stockholder-owned corporation founded in 1939, is a technology company that operates in almost every country worldwide. The company’s mission is straight-forward: develop technologies and services that can help people and companies address their problems and challenges, and realize their possibilities, aspirations and dreams. Headquartered in Palo Alto, California, HP has hundreds of thousands of employees.
HP was facing a large and urgent project management capability need to facilitate a major engagement and program started for an agency within the Department of Defense agency.
Task
In order to deliver on this program, the client enlisted WiserWulff’s help to provide the talent to:
- Integrated master schedule
- Expedient and accurate project statuses
- Analysis and identification of key trends and problem areas
- Better capability of answering resource utilization and skill assessment questions questions (through improved understanding of staffing and schedule changes)
- In-depth reporting and analysis
- Implementation of project management leading practices
At the end of the day, the target was bringing on 12 project managers in a staggered process over a two-month timeframe to manage a major multi-year DOD technology consolidation program.
Solution
To address these challenges, WiserWulff:
- Supported the initiative’s leadership in staffing the Project Management Office
- Provided leadership in consolidating the planning and reporting of key engagement management processes
- Provided consultants to support multiple domestic locations
