Situation
This global medical device division of a global medical device company wanted to enhance operating efficiency, reduce SG&A as a percentage of revenue, and standardize processes globally across the division and company.
Task
The CIO, CFO, and COO tasked the firm define standardized, efficient business processes and to implement the Oracle EBS ERP system to support these efficiencies, reduced costs, and standardized business processes. Also tasked the team to not miss a surgery with the parts and kits this client provides to its customers (surgeons).
Actions
Initiated and implemented the global standardization of business processes enabled by the Oracle EBS 11i Manufacturing, Order Management, Procurement, and Financials suites to enable the standardization and cost reduction:
- The project scope included assistance with Life Sciences Industry best practices, Oracle-enabled process design, Oracle 11i configuration, RICE development and testing, technical infrastructure, Oracle system administration, training development and delivery, change leadership, communications, and Program Management Office
- The project included the implementation of over twenty Oracle modules, design for four global locations, two languages, leveraging over 100 client resources, and 50+ US-based & offshore development consultants
- Inventory physical count to ensure parts and kits were fully accounted for before implementation
Results
The client experienced the following benefits as a result of WiserWulff’s actions:
- Enhanced operating efficiency, ERP systems flexibility, and global process standardization
- 11% reduction in SG&A costs as a percentage of revenue
- No surgeries were missed due to the business process transformation and system implementation
